We are a Quaker Meeting based in Louisville, Kentucky and a branch of the Ohio Valley Friends Meeting. Our meeting house is located at 3050 Bon Air Avenue, Louisville KY, 40205. Worship begins at 10 AM, but Friends gather in social greeting starting at 9:45 AM with freshly brewed coffee and conversation.
Generally, Quakers believe that everyone has the potential to directly access the divine. Many of the particulars of how Quakers worship, act, and participate in the world stem from this belief. As with many faiths, Quakerism has branched in different directions over time. Groups of Quakers may call themselves a meeting or a church.
We start each Meeting for Worship service around 10am each Sunday with a “settling message” from a Friend that grounds us into our reflection for the hour. We then sit in Waiting Worship, speaking when we feel moved to do so, until 11am when we then share prayers, thoughts, and concerns, and introduce ourselves to the meeting. After Meeting, we will hold community potlucks or “Second Hours” where we discuss issues relating to or of interest to Friends in the Meeting. Click below to read more about our religious practices.
We’d love for you to join us whether you are a practicing Quaker, have experience in other Quaker Meetings, or have never even heard of Quakers before now. We hold weekly worship, monthly business meetings (to discuss formal aspects of our Meeting), and monthly community potlucks. Click below to view our shared calendar of events!
